I agree. That area has a lot of potential, and talk of Goldie going has been banded about.. But I don't think anything'll happen for a couple of years yet. If Goldie does go I'd like to see something like a Zierer Star Shape in its place...

They should replace it with a dark ride! Adventure Island only has 2 now (Bellzee Bob's and Crooked House), and only one that you actually ride.

A Zierer Star shape would be a good idea, they are huge. The problem is they look good but never really deliver a great ride. They are often quite sluggish and dull.

I would love to see a top scan go in though. Now that would be awesome!

I know they are low capacity, but I would really love to see a Booster at Southend ;D

The Goldmine can be great fun if there is a big group of you, but a bit lame if you ride on your own. How long has it been there anyway?

Goldmine is a classic ride ! so why get rid of it ?? get rid of Green Scream or something like that ride is getting old and rusty, and rough now !

I agree with Hazzer. Get rid of Green Scream. Why is the train so long on that anyway?

Try going to the dolphinarium in Bruges, the Zierer train there is 2 cars longer than the Green Scream...

I say, don't get rid of the Green Scream because it has a capacity of 40 and is quite enjoyed by many guests.. And it makes the area underneath it look nice...

Goldie on the other hand has an average of about 12-15 per ride, it's stupidly old, it doesn't really do much.. If the park is trying to move more towards the thrill market, removing a ride with minor thrills makes less sense than removing a ride with no thrills at all. The Gold Mine corner is a perfect spot for a flat ride whereas the Green Scream area is busy with all sorts of rides, units and staff areas...

I nearly went to that place in Bruges last year but it rained all day so we just stayed in the city centre.

You have a valid point there. Grean Scream is probably the biggest family coaster in the Uk. I have to admit I like the layout and it does deliver a smooth ride. Plus it is a queue eater, due to the high capacity. The only other coaster with a train that long I have been on is the Ultimate at Lightwater Valley.

What actually is the point of that Goldmine anyway? Think I will stick with Blackpool's version :)

If they did develop that area, would that mean the end of the Whip aswell, which is a good fun ride for all ages.

I don't think the Whip's going anywhere for a while yet.

It would be odd if the Gold Mine did make way for a thrill ride, as that end of the park is known as 'little end', with its cluster of Mini and Junior rides. If a Big Adventure ride was chucked in there it would seem a bit misplaced.. But I'm sure it could be done with some good theming.

I don't know if we'll get anything at all for 2008. The park's spent a lot of money this year, what with Rage and various other improvements, new catering units, new on ride photos will be launching soon, and next year is also going to be the launch of Stockvale's 'Southend Radio' station, which means paying for the studio building above the west side toilets...
